Firstly, shocking moment polar bear attacks woman who climbed into zoo enclosure.

This is the terrifying moment a woman was attacked by a polar bear after jumping into its zoo enclosure.
The 32-year-old leapt over bars at Berlin Zoo during the bears' feeding time yesterday.
Despite six zookeepers' efforts to distract the four predators kept in the enclosure, the woman was bitten several times on her arms and legs.

The brave keepers eventually managed to push the bear away and pull the woman to safety.
She was bitten by one of the four older polar bears in the enclosure and not by the famous Knut, who took Germany by storm as a cub after he was hand-raised by a keeper.

Still under attack, the woman swims for and then finally grabs a rope hanging down by rescuers
It is not known why the woman pulled the dangerous stunt but she initially appeared to be elated as she swam towards a bear in the enclosure.
It is not easy to access the enclosure, which is surrounded by a fence, a line of prickly hedges and a wall.

The whole incident can be seen on youtube. (:

Secondly, 2008's Most Unexpected Stories
The infamous standoff between Britney Spears and law authorities was a major milestone in the the pop star's whirlwind year of 2008. Cops were called to Britney Spears' home after she had apparently locked herself in the bathroom with her two sons Jan. 4. Ex-husband Kevin Federline's bodyguard was sent to pick up the kids, but was turned away by the Spears camp. Us Weekly reported that Spears appeared to be under the influence of some type of drug. Police had to force their way into the bathroom to retrieve the children. Spears was taken away in an ambulance, and hospitalized for psychological evaluation.

Thirdly, 2008's Most Unexpected Stories
Zhang Weiyuan, a 4-year-old Chinese boy from Liaoning province, has a rare heart ailment called pentalogy of Cantrell, which brings with it a complex series of defects, including congenital heart disease and sternum abnormalities. The heart protrusion is about 8 centimeters in diameter. Since only the skin protects the protruding heart, it could be easily injured and lead to death. (AP Photo)

2008's Most Unexpected Stories
One of 2008's most shocking stories was that of pregnant man Thomas Beatie, a former woman who defended his right to give birth, saying he had a "right to have a biological child." Beatie, 34, gave birth to a girl, Susan, June 29. His wife, Nancy, had had a hysterectomy and so could not carry a child. "I opted not to do anything with my reproductive organs, because I wanted to have a child one day," Beatie told Oprah Winfrey during an April interview. His wife inseminated Beatie with a syringe using sperm purchased from a sperm bank. Beatie revealed to Barbara Walters in November that he and his wife are expecting their second child.(Getty Images)

Fourthly, Human Face Transplant
In 2005, part of a human face was transplanted onto another human being for the first time ever; after Isabelle Dinoire’s face had been mauled by her pet dog she found herself at the frontier of experimental plastic surgery. Just six months on, a military hospital in China surprised the world by announcing that it too had conducted even more ambitious facial surgery. With unprecedented access to Chinese face transplant surgeon Professor Guo Shuzhong, and the military hospital where he works, this film follows Li Guoxing’s story for over a period of two years; from bear bite victim into the full glare of publicity as he receives the world’s first face transplant to include bone (nose bone). Will his body accept the donor face and how will Li adapt to this new face? When news reaches Professor Guo that his former patient, Li has had a major set back and suffered a partial rejection, can the Professor heal Li's face before it is rejected completely? Human Face Transplant will also follow the story of He Jiawei, a patient chosen to be the candidate for the first Chinese full face transplant (a world first). He was nearly burned alive saving the lives of hundreds of fellow factory workers and became horribly disfigured. Will a donor become available and can he and his family cope emotionally in the meantime?

Real Wolf Kids
Sucha poor little kid .Supatra ‘Nat’ Sasuphan behaves much like any other little girl; she enjoys eating ice-cream, swimming, cheerleading and going to school. But in other ways she is literally one in a billion, being one of only about 50 documented cases since 1638, born with thick 5cm long animal-like fur covering her head and parts of her body. Nat was born with congenital hypertrichosis, otherwise known as ‘werewolf syndrome’.

Coming from a family committed to Buddhist values, Nat and family see no reason to hide her away but leaving the comfort of familiar surroundings, Nat is always accompanied by a throng of gawping strangers and cruel name calling. As Nat heads towards puberty, her family are growing increasingly desperate for a treatment to control the unbelievable hair growth and to give their daughter a ‘normal life’.

But there are no easy options. In India, 11-year-old Prithviraj Patil, also afflicted by uncontrollable hair growth, is undergoing painful laser treatment but his hair keeps growing back all over his face and body. Now both children’s families are pinning their hopes on Professor Angela Christiano, and her research in genetic science, for help in finding a cure.

Can the search for a cure for baldness help these children to lose their hair and be normal? Will they grow up in a society that excludes them or can help be found before they are old enough to realise just how different they are?
