Netizens have been questioning her status as Caldecott Queen since the nomination list was announced and Zoe was not nominated. In response to that, she said dully, "I respect the panel's decision."
As analyzed by a veteran actress, Zoe's role in "By My Side", drama which promoted AIDS awareness, is one which offered limited room to flare her skills. In addition to that, the slow and heavy tone of the drama may not be to the liking of the panel; however, Zoe's acting skills should not be questioned.
Though she has been cast out of the "Best Actress" league, Zoe expressed her fullest support for her partner in "By My Side", Chen Hanwei, and hoped he can clinch the award.
"My character in 'The Defining Moment' is very different from the past characters that I've done. I didn't know how I did when I was acting, but I was surprised the director told me I did better than he expected, so I'm really happy. I hope to this will be my 'defining moment'," she said.

Fiancé Christopher Lee is nominated Best Variety Host for the first time and Fann expressed her joys and affirmed his efforts and skills.
"I've watched one or two episodes of the show (Life Transformers) and I was really touched," said Fann Wong.
Fann also said it would call for a celebration if both of them win the awards.

Another actress who won recognition is Lin Meijiao, nominated "Best Supporting Actress" for "Little Nyonya".
"When I first learnt that I was nominated, I was rather calm. I've been confident about my previous nominations, but Haha"she laughed. However, she expressed that she really hoped Lady Luck will be with her this year when told that netizens have been applauding her performance.
Also in "The Ultimatum" is Caldecott King Lee Nan Xing whom the audience has not seen for a long time. The three-time winner of Best Actor award will not be attending this year's ceremony. "I've withdrawn from the awards two to three years ago," he said.
